About Us

ʻOWA

OWA will partner with employers – government and private, for- and non-profit, small and large – and support organizations to integrate policies and practices that further family success.

  • ʻOhana Workplace Alliance is a hui of business and nonprofit leaders in Hawaiʻi. We believe “there is no hana without ‘ohana” and that our families are at the heart of our workplaces.

We collaborated to find solutions to the question “How might we co-create and celebrate ‘ohana-friendly businesses that support their employees’ child and family care, mental health, and safety needs?” We wanted to help guide and support Hawaiʻi’s organizations’ culture and policies to be more supportive of family-related issues, such as family leave, childcare, pay parity, and family violence.

The ʻOhana Workplace Alliance is an Omidyar Fellows-led program committed to addressing issues in Hawai‘i.

  • This website is an open-source community-based platform that informs and provides tools and resources for organizations who want to create an ‘ohana-centered workplace.
